Ankle

Ankle

There are more than 350 joints in the human body. It is therefore remarkable to think that 20% of all sports injuries involve the ankle.

Injured?

Of all ankle injuries, an ankle sprain is by far the most common injury, and the most common injury across sports. Fortunately, most athletes will recover quickly and be back in full activity after one or a few weeks.

How to prevent ankle injuries

Ankle injuries result in reduced ankle stability and balance. Incorporating balance exercises into training routines on a daily basis is therefore crucial for reducing the risk of suffering a new ankle sprain. As such, anyone with an ankle injury history should practice balance exercises regularly and for at least 10 weeks to regain normal function and comfort. It is documented that such training can reduce the risk of sustaining a new injury by half.
